The Bahamas are a spearfisherman’s dream, boasting clear turquoise waters with visibility often exceeding 100 feet. Thriving reefs explode with a diversity of marine life, from the big hogfish to the prized grouper, promising an epic hunt for any level of spearfisherman. This trip welcomes everyone from seasoned spearfishermen to the curious beginner. We’ll be targeting a variety of reef fish using pole spears and freediving techniques – no bulky scuba gear needed. The Bahamas offer perfect hunting grounds, with plentiful fish in relatively shallow waters while also hiding larger grouper for the seasoned pro. Your guide, CJ, has spent years exploring these waters and knows the best spots and most effective techniques, ensuring an unforgettable experience with plenty of fish to show for it.

This trip caters to those looking to hone their pole spear skills, as spearguns are illegal in the Bahamas; only pole spears are permitted. Each day will consist of motoring out on the boat to various dive spots, where you’ll freedive to the bottom to stalk grouper, hogfish, and snapper through reefs and caves, all while keeping an eye out for lobster along the way. These species are open to hunt year-round, with the exception of Nassau grouper and lobster. Nassau grouper season runs from March 1st to November 30th, while lobster season extends from August 1st to March 31st. Come equipped with your pole spear, mask, snorkel, 3mm wetsuit, and gloves, and you’ll be ready to go.
